Traditions – Pine Meadows

This project included the discovery of large amounts of hard rock that impeded the conventional approach to rough grading and required the use of large excavators and hammer attachments, haul trucks, multiple D10 dozers and additional compaction tools to complete the earthwork. Due to the changing conditions, both KDW and the underground utility contractor collaborated with the developer to efficiently excavate the jobsite in preparation for the installation of the site improvements and underground infrastructure. This site preparation included excavation of the streets to below the utility corridor to remove the hard rock, the placement of the processed rock into fills deep enough to mix with clean dirt, and the coordination with the off-site utility tie in points to maintain the site’s long term schedule.
